No disrespect for Lebron, as I've gained a lot of respect for him on and off the court this series, but if the Cavs make the Finals, I will not watch one second (though that won't be the first time I haven't watched a moment of the Finals). They are just too bad of a team save for Lebron.

I think you're safe. I think the Heat would match up great against the Cavs. D. Wade is fairly unbelievable himself. Of course I'm not an Antoine Walker or Gary Payton fan. I do love White Chocolate (Jason Williams) though.

Hey, listen to a discussion that my friends and I have had over this past week. The question was, how good is Lebron if he wins it all. Now he has a long way to go, but just imagine if the Cavs win the NBA finals. Does Lebron automatically jump to best ever status. Lebron's team is no where near any of MJ's finals teams, not even close. MJ had Pippen, who was a Hall of Famer himself, name another all star player on the Cavs, and Illglascus (spelling?) doesn't count. I love MJ, and don't see myself ever saying anyone is as smooth as he was late in the game, but where does 21 year old LBJ rank? Makes for an interesting discussion.

While Lebron is impressing me, it's not even a debate at the moment. It would be crazy to see a Wade/Lebron showdown. And I think if the big guy was hurt the Cavs could pull it out, and I don't believe I just said that.

Patrick, how dare ye mention anyone’s name in the same sentence as MJ! Have ye not read the prophecy: “For many will come to the league and have it claimed that they are on par with His Airness, and they will deceive many. You will hear of amazing dunks and unstoppable fade-aways; but see too it that you are not alarmed, for these things must happen to keep people interested in the NBA, but it will not yet be the end of that dysfunctional league. For owner will rise against owner, and franchise against franchise; there will be boring Finals and empty stadiums from city to city. All this is merely the beginning of the end of the NBA. Supposed ‘stars’ will arise and you will be tempted, because of your short memories, to compare them Michael. Many of these false stars will arise and deceive many; and because of the increase of boredom, the ratings of most games will grow cold. But the one who perseveres by watching Michael on ESPN Classics will be entertained.”

To compare any current NBA player with Michael Jordan is like comparing any college player's career to the college career of Christian Laettner. It’s just not kosher.

Laettner and Jordan in the same blog, sorry bro, can't let it happen. I'm close to deleting your comment but I'm not like that.

Keep the names in their context bro :-)

I stand by the greatest Blue Devil to ever run court at Cameron Indoor.

He started four Final Fours in, well, all four years at Duke. He led the Blue Devils to two National Championships - one in which he led the charge to beat a superior UNLV squad. His PERFECT game against Kentucky in 1992 was the best performance by a college player ever!

Long live the memory of the Greatest College Basketball Player of All-Time!

I still remember you crying in your room at our old house while I was tormenting you when Travis Woods hit that bank shot to put UK up with 1.1 to go. Then Laettner hit that shot (when that traitor Pitino decided not to guard the inbounder and both guys guarding Laettner backed away when he got the ball) and all hope was lost. Go Fab Five!

You're right. I didn't even the see the "shot heard 'round the world" live. All I heard was you let out a cuss and I rubbed away my tears as Thomas Hill poured his out.

BTW, I take it you subscribe to the Pitino-conspiracy theory that he threw the game. Still a popular conjecture in many UK circles where the name Pitino is synonymous with treachery. This theory appeared to have support when Sir Rick returned to the state to coach Louisville :-)

In intellectually honesty I have to tip my hat to you for bringing up the Fab Five. Laettner had two games noteworthy for their dreadfulness against Michigan his senior year. No matter, Duke still got the W is both cases - thanks to Grant Hill and Bobby Hurly. Nothing to get excited about, unlike the performance of Jay Williams against Indiana - which effectively canceled him out as a Duke alumnus in my book.

Cheers!
