What a terrible day of football. There's not much I don't like in the NFL, I don't have allegiances to any team except the Cowboys, I tend to like players over teams, etc. However, I absolutely hate the Manning Trinity and Mike Holmgren, while I love the Cowboys and have an appreciation for the Broncos. That's why I was so upset to see both the Boys and Denver winning late as I left my in-laws, only to come home and see both teams had lost, allowing crazy comebacks. I'm saying it right now, if both Mannings are in the Super Bowl I am not watching, and the only way I will watch one is if I like the other team and will root vigorously for that team. Go Boys!

Do you find your distaste for the Mannings a result of the elder (Archie)?? I personally don't mind Peyton or Eli, and I obviously don't know them, but it's refreshing to have high profile athletes that you don't hear negative pub about all the time. They are by no means the only ones, but rare this day and age. Plus I watched them live in college which was pretty cool. I do find the dad a bit annoying though.

Hope you are enjoying day 3 of your lengthy time off.

does your distaste for tweety bird stem at the source of mine: simmons?

well, i wouldn't say that i don't like payton simply because of sg's world, but it has been influenced. i do think he gets the accolades he deserves for his passing accomplishments, but until you win the big one, you're still second fiddle. brady, 3 rings, good qb, and i would say a great guy until some of his off season comments this year. still a good guy. manning, league mvp, records, NO RINGS. can't make big plays when it's on the line, makes the payton manning face and blames receivers. i even saw the manning face in the st. louis game when they were down. then when it got rolling everything seemed fine for him.

as for eli, i dislike that crap he pulled with san diego. it seems to have worked out for everyone but i just think that was bush league.

i am amazed that 3 people in the same immediate family are playing the key position in a league that is nearly impossible to get into. and playing it well. but, the media loves them, buys into everything they do, glorifies manning chicken flapping at the line of scrimmage. they get all over someone's stats, and ignore long term results.

having said all of this, i would take either of them as the qb of my team in heartbeat. or tom brady. or mike vick (ron mexico). or about anyone other than the joker i'm stuck with (bulger) and his current backup (martin). ugh.

I never got the Ron Mexico-Mike Vick thing, where did that stem from. I've heard it by not the origin.

I'd have to say my dislike of Manning comes from the SG, the thing is that I hate the Pats too, I just agree with him that he beats up on the little guys but can't score 20 points when it counts. I've give him his due (and his brother), I just don't like them.

I'd take Bulger and his stats over Collins and Roethlisberger, who I have. If only Roes... and his wins counted for something.

the ron mexico thing stems from an alleged vd test that vick took under that alias. or maybe he told this girl he alleged gave vd that mexico was his name, but i think it's the first.

as for stats, i'd take bulger on my fantasy team, but i have brunell who has been fantasy great. i'm talking about the rams, who i follow in real life. and in real life i care about wins. but the fantasy me only cares about stats.

i had heard something like that before, but wasn't sure that was the connection, crazy!
